@gruber One instance of AppZapper “300”.

@gruber 24 is younger than 30, surely?

If you ignore the health, ethical, social, moral, financial, environmental, creative, cultural, privacy, quality, legal and geopolitical concerns, then this thing really has legs!!

@mass_driver Your Future Fonts generosity knows no bounds! Starting to think if you need a starter course on business… ;^P

I’m really proud of this article on Masonry & CSS.

It was incredibly hard to write. We spent weeks writing and rewriting, digging deeper & deeper into the issues at hand, working to make things as easy to understand as possible.

There’s also a really cool idea about how to add another new feature to CSS Grid. (It would make it super easy to create a common article layout that’s not easy today.)

I can’t wait to hear what you think.

By some miracle, my latest video has not got a single downvote on Youtube (so far) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO71b3l22mM

Safari Technology Preview 185 is here! With exciting news…

We’ve added a switch control to the web, with `<input type="checkbox" switch>`, so you don’t have to hack a checkbox with custom styling to make it look like a switch! By building on top of checkbox, it falls back nicely in browsers without support.

We’ve got support for `align-content` on block containers — which means you’ll be able to vertically center anything (or `end` align), not just Flexbox/Grid items!

Eigensolutions: composability as the antidote to overfit
https://lea.verou.me/blog/2023/eigensolutions/

A bit more abstract than some of my other posts, featuring #designthinking insights that (hopefully) apply to a wide range of creator tools, from visual editors to web technologies.

It’s a distillation of my experience of over a decade of making things that empower other people of various skill levels to make things. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

lol we set up a demo page for a test we’re doing. The HTML document only contains 1 line of CSS, a couple of lines of JS, and a single <h1>Hello World</h1> equivalent.

I then added GTM and via GTM, added GA 4, Klaviyo, Facebook Pixel, and Hotjar.

We’re already at a 64 in performance in Lighthouse on Page Speed Insights. 257K of third-party JS.

Wild.
