@palomakop After reading your text on frequency modulation and phase modulation, i tried to generate similar patterns. In doing so, i completely ignored the task of “summing all pixels on the left side.”
The pattern generated by frequency modulation also differs depending on the frame number, because the frame number keeps incrementing always.

@palomakop I really liked how open you framed the theme of the #weekOfPatching and the process so openly. That freedom allowed me to do my own thing.

In June, I created a mood board. I wanted to combine these six individual animations into a single film - not just a series of visual tricks, but to create a cohesive whole.

I saw at an exhibition “A Performing by Flash, Afterimage, Velocity and Noise”. And I'm fascinated by the cutting technique in this movie. My WoP movie have to wait for now.

All operations are completed

To wrap things up, here's an animation created entirely with “analog Not analog”. Part of this patch is a camera directed to a nanoKONTROL2. Through the camera feed, we can see how the filter parameters are being adjusted.

Short Wave Radio
"Jean" is used as a image generator.

3 layers stacked:
1) A scrolling background image.
2) A short bluish vertical line moving left to right and back.
3) And a similar line in yellow.

The visible effect is produced by joining the layers. The layers are connected in a cyclical manner. A little bit like an feedback loop. But implemented very simple, by not deleting the OpenGL buffers before drawing the next frame.

A slide show blending from one image to another. On top of the slides are animated simple geometric shapes.

SuperCollider is sending messages to announce when a new shape should becomes visible. The most visually striking filter in the signal chain is an outline detection filter. Outlines are calculated by OpenCV. They are visually enhanced and blended with the upstream visual signal.

1. A camera is recording how the patch cables are inserted. Fischer Technik electronics from the 1970s. There are 3 pulse generators, a mono flop and relays. When the relays are connected the clicks are audible.

2. Then this recording is played and manipulated with aNa. We see one video player and 3 additional filters in this signal chain. Two of them are sound reactive.

3. Original 1 and patch 2 is later blended over.

For #weekOfPatching a camera-monitor-feedback-loop. This patch shows an a external physical video loop and visual signals running through a filter chain. A little bit out of control.

Plus #SuperCollider is producing sound grains. Pitch and stereo panning is controlled by the animation.

#day2 starts with a small text rendering. With the help of the camera-monitor-feedback-loop and some semitransparent stuff it gets more complex.

For #weekOfPatching i work with visual signals running through a filter chain. Patching is done by connecting the filters by code. It is a live coding system for routing the signals and tweaking the filters. Additionally #SuperCollider is running in the background. But the focus is on manipulating visuals.

#day1 is a little bit minimalistic. More Baroque-themed pieces will follow in a few days.

Strange things are happening on this record player.

Here, the time axis is distorted. As a side effect, the geometry of the glass cubes are also distorted. It bears some resemblance to slit-scan photography, but I don't know of a proper technical term to describe these effects.

I got my programs up and running again for the Week of Patching. The new optical experiments are already looking fairly good.

Here is a detail of a camera-monitor feedback loop. A small pink perfume bottle is located in the optical path.
