Looking for a lightweight alternative to #anaconda to run #python scripts on Mac. I’ve been using #Spyder with just a few packages, a handful of scripts, to build my website from a CSV I dump from a huge spreadsheet. I liked the Spyder IDE.

Anaconda has just disappeared from the Mac since I last built the site, won’t run from GUI or terminal. (Spyder is still here, but won’t run)

My son is a scientist, suggested Anaconda as I was learning and setting this up, but maybe it’s a bit like running a nuke plant to make toast. And now it has disappeared itself anyway.

Peony after rain, and iris, this year

I’m thinking of pulling down all my blog entries, which were called “Photo of the Week.” Right now it’s just AI fodder. And what’s the point of that, helping it learn to auto-complete?

It started out many years ago, when I disciplined myself to put a new photo on my site every week, and either discuss it, or spin off with it as a point of departure on the WordPress side of the site. I actually enjoyed it. I like writing. I’m not sure why I slowed down and then all but stopped.

The only down side is that the point of it — to get me to put photos on my site — got to the point where there are too many photos on the site. It’s easier to put them up than take them down, actually. And I always need to cull. So I slowed down.

Also there seems less and less point in discussing photos. Dancing about architecture, and all that. So we’ll see if I axe them all…

Got all of the old stairs down. I guess about 3/4 of them in this pile. #DIY

Two new kittens growing up. Seems like they are still getting along OK.

Hard to say, but I think the new kittens are getting pretty comfortable around here. She is recharging via USB C.

The two kittens are settling in extremely well. Daytimes alternate between rampaging/playing, and naps. Night time, they sleep all night on the bed and sometimes purr and snuggle. Introductions to the two older cats are now going better than expected. Sniffing noses on both sides. A few hisses from the old ones, but a lot of benign neglect. The little ones love being liberated when I let them out. Rampaging and endless curiosity.

After the rampage:

New #kittens made it through their first night in the bedroom very delightfully (on the bed). Now finding new nesting spots.

Well, damn, her sister, Tortelini, is now gone from the shelter. I took the closest appt they had, for tomorrow morning, but someone got in ahead of me.
We really wanted a pair, and of females. There are males left in the litter. Though I do love male cats, I’ve never had luck. They pee and spray, have never managed to work through that in spite of trying. (Male cats in the neighborhood come around and spray outdoors, provoking it, I think).
Don’t know whether to get the one or wait. #caturday

Put in an adoption application for this little 10 week old and her sister, a tortie named Tortelini. They just appeared on the local shelter site in the last couple of days, so hoping nobody beats us to them.

Recently traveled to visit grandson and other family in an area much richer in kittens and spent lots of time trying to adopt a pair there, but no luck. It’ll work with patience. Already have two very good cats.
