Me: "Ugh! I'm so tired of this cold!"
Jeannie, encouragingly: "Today will be your last day."
Me: "Well that's ominous."

I've had it with these motherfucking ants on this motherfucking plane!!!

For most of the year, I want my car's climate control system to either cool to 78F (26C); or if it's already under 78 then just vent in fresh air at the ambient outside temperature.

There is no setting to do this automatically. If I leave it set to 78, then if it is cold it will heat to 78, which is not what I want.

To switch from "cool" to "vent" takes 15 button-presses, because there is no way to turn off the heat except by lowering the temperature to 65, one degree at a time. Fifteen presses.

This is a #UserInterface failure. One additional button, to toggle the heat, would solve the issue. Or the current A/C button could cycle between heat/cool/both/off.

My latest youtube obsession has excellent #captions, which is not a phrase that I ever thought would pass my lips.

Shout out to JS at http://caption.plus/ for doing a truly outstanding job. This guy does a better job on youtube #subtitles than the major studios do on their big-budget productions.

And kudos to the folks at the "Jet Lag: The Game" youtube channel for caring enough to hire the best. (#JetLag is a game played by traveling around the world and doing silly challenges. If trains and travel are your thing, check it out!)

Today was a black comedy of investigating Mom's claims of an intruder (there was no intruder); investigating the issue (a contractor was parked in the driveway and may have peed in the bushes); calling up the camera installer that Mom booked in a panic and telling him to forget it; and canceling the cable internet that Mom signed up for, for the cameras.

I think this is the fourth internet service we've cancelled.

#Dementia is fucking awful.

I planned to ride my bike to do some brief errands tonight. I ended up driving instead.

It's not the pedaling. It's the constant, oppressive presence of cars.

There are hundreds and hundreds of miles of streets for cars in this city. With all the bikes here, and the explosion of e-bikes and scooters, why can't we have just a few car-free (or even bike-priority) streets?

Hey, I have a question for an electrical type. What's the point of putting an insulator between two wires, then bonding those two wires together with another wire? (That's what's going on here, right?)

Threatening to deliberately target civilian infrastructure is a war crime.

By continuing to support this criminal, by consistently refusing to remove him from office, all Republicans are complicit.

I don't want to hear "We support our troops" coming out of any Republican's mouth ever again. They are all liars and hypocrites.

Why is it that when I turn on "block ai enhancements", #firefox still does popups to ask if I want to shake my phone to do #ai page summaries?

Why do smokers bother to walk away from groups of people if they're just going to stand upwind?

The year is 2026 and telephones are ubiquitous.

I do not understand why the doctor's office can't call to let us know they're running late and that we should come in a little later.

I finally made that paella that Jeannie's been wanting.

We have arrived at the "you need to bring your own medical equipment to the doctor's office" stage of #LateStageCapitalism .

Today was snake day at the park.

I love everything about this, from the uncomfortable expression on his face to the awkward way he's holding that taco, to the little plastic tomato slice on top of the pile of orange cheese.

#SFO #Design #Fail I can see what temperature water the other two spigots are dispensing, but I can't see what temperature my own is dispensing because the graphic is printed on the back.

(The third spigot isn't shown because somebody was using it.)

Somebody stole our artichokes. They stripped eight of them off the plant in our front yard.

I don't care much about the actual artichokes. I can afford to buy artichokes. I do care that somebody stole them; I was looking forward to eating the thing that I grew; and that they didn't even leave us any edible ones.

If they had asked, I would gladly have given them some. I hope they took them because they were hungry, and not just because they were easy to steal. I wish they had asked.

We need a word for when a company intentionally produces a worse product, in order to try to get you to pay more for the standard product.

Eg, when airlines make everybody in a group sit separately, unless they pay extra to sit together.

What's the word for that?
