Today I learned that my favorite jazz singer, Cassandra Wilson, is 70.
That fact is a mind-blower to me, because my image of her is from about 30 years ago.
And the reason it even came up is that she died at 70, two days ago.
I love every recording I've heard of her, especially her take on "I Can't Stand The Rain" with Chris Whitley. I hate the inevitable flow of time.

I don't _want_ a code sent to my phone or email to be the _only_ requirement to log in. Phone and email can be hijacked.
Use proper _time-based_ OTP codes where _I_ generate the code, not receive it from you, or at minimum, just let me enter a password. Sending me a code is not as secure as my password manager.
At least let me _select_ what level of security I want so I can get out of this security regression.
The treatment of Jason Arday was massively out of proportion to his faults. People who have committed terrible crimes have received less scrutiny, yet I don't believe anything he did or said even crossed the threshold of criminality. How many of us would have survived what he was put through? 🧵

Prediction: Organoids will be pitched by the current data center grifters as a remedy for the data centre power and water bills. (A human brain is ridiculously performant in terms of neural operations per watt; it's just not naturally configured for the type of i/o techbros want it to perform.)

So, I think that any developer strongly using AI tools doesn't really understand the domain they're working in.
Now, should I choose, I could share my code without worrying that anyone could post as me.
And it's in my bin/, rarely used, because I don't do stuff like I did anymore.
It wasn't crucial that I wrap my head around the key exchange or whatever, but it is crucial that I understand the part of the API that allows me to do what I need to do. I could imagine getting started with AI help, but I have to understand a domain in order to work within it.
It is right and good that proving a user is that user, instead of a cabbage or something, is a critical and robust part of the process. But proving that I'm me before I could do anything is always the annoying part of a new process, so I held off.
Until, that is, I asked ChatGPT for the basics of a tool to automatically post. Once I had that and tested it, I made modifications. Primarily, I added code that allowed me to have my credentials in JSON or something, instead of hard-coded.
I admit to using AI to write code. Once.
Years ago, I had Twitter code, that allowed me to do a number of things, but first was code that allowed me to write tweets from the command line, and, as a corollary, to add tweets to my crontab and automate them. I wanted this for the fediverse.
But there's complicated authentication stuff that I could work out, but didn't want to. In almost all cases, proving a user is the user and allowed to do something is harder than actually doing something.

I was a 911 dispatcher for a decade.
To really understand how absolutely terrible an idea it is to have AI answer 911 calls, I'll present you with a single real-life call:
Upon answer, the caller calmly began ordering a pizza. Large, pepperoni. Side order of chicken wings. To be delivered promptly.
The only sign the caller gave that things were amiss? She rather ignored the first few questions from the calltaker.
Because she was being physically abused, had already been beaten, and her abuser was *IN THE ROOM* listening to her order pizza.
Tell me how your AI is going to read between those lines.
