I made a video about how we make videos. One aspect of our recipe videos at least. It's a teeny tiny dolly that runs off an NP-F battery. Cheap gear is getting better and better.

In other words, it is the job of scientists to devise experiments that can test their claims, to always be cautious about what they are claiming, and to critically evaluate the claims of other scientists. By these well-established standards, no serious science is happening behind Anthropic's claims.

Guano mining left Lady Elliot Island a barren wasteland. Now it's a tropical oasis - ABC News
We should offer Pine Gap and US bases as 55year lease agreements to an #EU led coalition of nations.
should also add to that US citizens as root cause of this, should only ever be granted a 3 week visa, conditional on the presence of a return ticket. (at double cost of any other world citizens} ..they reckon they're special, so it should be.
All US owned corporate interest should be registered and have exiting gross (not net) profits taxed at a rate equivalent to 1.5 times the average Australian personal income tax rate, for the next 50 years to pay for their harms, caused by their bloody minded ignorance. #Microsoft #AWS #IBM #Apple #Google #Chevron #McDonalds #ProctorGamble #Auspol #USpol
I just bought the 2nd last Velectrix Cruiser Pulse STX from Rays, Brunswick. My wife & I have shared one for a few months but she uses it more & more! It seems a perfect ebike - smooth, quite, oil free belt drive & 3 speed internal gears, which is perfect for a "pedelec" standard ebike & pretty goid around Melbourne even without assist. A nice smooth power assist & pretty upright ride position, crusing at 25kmh, slowing to 18kmh on steep hills with 97kg rider.
The last one is $2249 size L which is not huge.

Usually I'm the one writing about AI. But recently, the tables were turned.
Someone sent me a link to an 89-page book about "redefining living through Cam Wilson teachings", seemingly made by AI
So, I bought it. Once it arrived, things got even weirder

It's been a loooong two days for me and #SunshineSadie - we're home now and grateful to be here.
Sadie had a fabulous time with our friends and was treated like the queen she is.

Random memory which recently popped back to the front of my mind: Some years ago someone here was commenting like: "very nice pictures, let's see how much of (or how closely) this all reflects your actual lived reality".
I remember being quite taken aback by that comment at the time, since it implied that I'd be leading some fake Instagram lifestyle, which literally couldn't be further from the truth. But sorting through all the images of the past 5 years, it's undeniable how drastically my life has changed since leaving behind 23+ years in London and having become more able to live out my love and appreciation for nature & photography, which always have been my main inspirations, also for my computational work (in fact it was photography & darkroom experiments which got me into computational art). I made the most of it I could in London (e.g. by working for 8+ years mostly from a bench in Highgate Woods, working on large projects for clients all over the world). But a suburban woodland also is incomparable to living near an endlessly fascinating major mountain range with incredibly rich & varied culture and ancient history to draw from...
So with that, I hope the pictures I've been sharing here are (mostly) seen as what I intend them as: Shared moments of wild or abstract natural beauty, oftentimes inviting pondering the time & processes shaping these environments, questioning our own role/presence or (in)significance there... Curated yes, very much so, but staged, absolutely not!
Ps. I'll again look into changing this server into a multi-account setup and potentially setting up more topic oriented sub-accounts. I'm currently feeling there's maybe too much self-censoring going on because I don't want to spam people and I think the new setup might help those people only following me for some small subset of my niche interests (instead of causing them to unfollow me...)
My sister in law came up to the cabin this week to see the fall colors. The weather was mostly cold and windy until today so she was able to get the money shot early this morning when the lake was as smooth as glass.
