* Dex Hunter-Torricke, Founder and President of The Center for Tomorrow. He shares insights from nearly two decades inside the organisations shaping global technology such as SpaceX, Facebook/Meta, Google and the United Nations, before leaving Big Tech in 2025 to build independent accountability from the outside.
* Professor Katherine Daniell, Director of ANU's School of Cybernetics. As a transdisciplinary academic, she has worked globally on areas including science and technology cooperation, water governance, risk, leadership, AI systems, politics and cultures of innovation, and climate change adaptation.

A sad truth is most companies do not know how to assess the quality of knowledge work. This is why they resort to RTO policies because they can’t simply judge if people are working better or worse from home.

This is also why they think all AI usage is good when most of it is obviously counterproductive.

Thinking about setting up some home automation and trying to tell myself it’s going to be harder and more tedious than I expect, but it still seems like a good idea… someone talk me out of it?

This Murray River wetland is a glimpse of a carp-free future
Managers shut the wetland off from the river, dried it out to kill the carp, then carefully refilled it with screens that keep big carp out. Result: crystal-clear water, thriving aquatic plants, native fish, frogs, turtles & birds.
European carp still dominate much of the Murray–Darling (up to 90% of biomass in some spots) and the river downstream of the Darling is now listed as critically endangered. The carp herpes virus is still 2 years off, so these local exclusion trials are showing what’s possible right now.
A blueprint for other sites while we wait for the bigger biological control.

I moved house last weekend, into an apartment much smaller than my last house. In today’s unpacking, I have eight pairs more sneakers than I have room in the wardrobe. Culling the sneaker collection is impossible.
