What #3dPrint designers/sculptors are here on the Fediverse? I want to talk to them about https://socialwebfoundation.org/2026/10/07/call-for-proposals-fediverse-multimedia-grants/ ! Put me in touch if you know any!
Are you distrustful by default of trying new web software because you've been burned by tools you rely on getting sunset or enshittifying?
App devs: if you’re working on iPhone Duo apps/games that will make use of that device’s functionality in interesting ways, please message me. I’m writing a thing.
Hi folks, if you are maintaining a widely used #OpenSource infrastructure project (think networking, encryption, testing/QA automation, desktop libraries, payment libraries ...) now is a good time to ask for a security audit or other support through the Sovereign Tech Resilience program.
The basic idea is: you apply (quick process), and we pair you with a partner firm from our network. We help with the scoping and pay the bill for the partner.
This is _not_ money for maintainers -- we have other programs for that -- but it does translate in free access to services for you.
Please take a look at the full services provided and consider if some of them could make sense for you. Happy to answer questions.
What’s your native language? (Hypothesis: There are many French & German speakers in the Fediverse.)
:fediverse: Boosts appreciated!
(If you have more than one native language then check the one that you speak better and/or the one that is listed below.)

I don’t think the bar analogy is particularly helpful at this point. But if any of your friends say that they’ve had a shitty time in a particular bar, and you go “nah, it’s fine actually, I’ve had no problems there”, rather than “sorry, I didn’t know, let’s go somewhere else”, then you are a bad friend.

Here we go again.
If you fire a bullet at a practice dummy and the bullet hits a person instead, the bullet was not “acting on its own.”
When Anthropic's software—designed, programmed, prompted, and activated by humans working for Anthropic—does stuff the humans failed to predict, stop saying the software has "gone rogue.” The software does not have agency. Only the humans do.
are you having a nice time on feddy?

Here's a great letter from Susan Jones (a retired insurance underwriter) on why the NHS will *always* cost the UK less than a private health insurance system;
which emphasises that those arguing for such a shift are either misinformed, or (more likely) just do the bidding of their corporate sponsors with little actual interest in the UK's fiscal politics.
Further reasons to ignore the clamouring for a US-like health system, should you really need them!

What I took away from a wonderful Josh Homme interview. And yes, it somehow turned into a post about working on the web again …
Anyone with open commissions who wants to do some #art for NetBSD?
We've got a budget for paying for some concept art and can later talk about working with you on some merch. DM us!
Naturally, we cannot accept contributions using generative AI.

It's such an idiotic error that it's hard to explain. I tried at greater length in my article:
