Karanga-a-Hape station buzzing. Saw some people with the same #GreaterAuckland tshirt (with the station names)

Checking out new stations on #auckland #tamakimakaurau #cityraillink - they've done a great job. Although I feel sad for the Balloon Adjacent whanau.

Bloody hell aren't libraries great in #tamakimakaurau #libraries - I popped in to pick up a free hold, and got treated to some love afternoon jazz!

Lovely quote for the day - attributed to Proust

" Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom"

I continue to struggle when the data shows this, and *anyone* is not thinking about radical policy shifts - let alone "drill baby drill".

Well said. This is absolutely f'in nuts. We should be pouring money into long term sustainable infra, not subsidising last century's planet destroying fossil fuel extraction.

I increasingly come down to a few major policies for advancing the world:

1- give cash instead of do-good projects (see Give Directly)
2 - build more houses where you have homeless
3 - restrict the excessive accumulation of capital

@pluralistic brings it home today

"PE is committed to an ideology that is far worse than any form of racial animus or other bias. As a sector, it is committed to profit above all other values. As a result, its brutality knows no bounds, no decency, no compassion. Even the worst crimes we commit for hate are nothing compared to the crimes we commit for greed"

Really recommend this year's #bbc Reith Lectures

Ben Ansell, Professor of Comparative Democratic Institutions at Nuffield College, Oxford University. He will deliver four lectures called “Our Democratic Future,” asking how we can build a politics that works for all of us with systems which are robust to the challenges of the twenty first century, from climate change to artificial intelligence.
