Psyched Zoë Keating is representing artists for the Subvert Cooperative!

Haven’t posted all the details to their blog, yet. The others representing labels and supporters sound awesome, too. Here’s the post from last week with all the people who ran.

Very seeing a music co-op growing up like this.
1. Kenny Loggins
(a whole lotta space)
2. Kenny Rogers
3. Kenny G
4. Kenny Chesney
“At the start of any design effort, the person who most wants to be team leader is least likely to be capable of it.”

“The necessary number of iterations is one more than the number you have currently done. This is true at any point in time.”

I was working on some demo images for my new font and came up with the best stupid font joke today. I may have peaked in terms of dumb font jokes...
#font #fonts #type #typography #typedesign #design #graphicdesign #kerning #mastoart #art
A note app.

Very late to the game on this, but dammmnnnmnm…
If Books Could Kill is healing my soul.
Queued up a few about books I’ve read, a few more I’ve heard lots of people talk about…
I’m now listening to books I’ve never heard of or care about, just because I like their methodical/rigorous approach while also relentlessly mocking everything.
This is what I want to be when I grow up.

Boston! Come see us next week!
Keep seeing variations of this:
“promising things they can’t deliver … you can’t notice it until it’s too late to unravel”
And it’s getting on my nerves because EVERYONE is noticing except a small few who are using these services to actively exploit others.
The companies providing services this way deserve scorn, but a lot of the people doing the purchasing are all putting on their hot dog costumes getting ready to say “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this!”
My most evergreen post.
Maybe the generated outcome was very straightforward. Maybe it overstepped a boundary somewhere. Maybe it was mediocre or just plain wrong. You do not really know. You did not learn anything from making it because there was no making. You did not develop any criteria.
Not knowing how to judge the outcome is not an uncomfortable side effect of generative AI use, *it is the main attraction*. Not learning (about how something could be done) is exactly where you save the most time. By reaching for generative tools, you implicitly say that you do not wish to learn from the process. (4/6)
Yo @mass_driver I brought this up in a chat and thought you might want to see the immediate response.
😍
If you’re ever discouraged and you feel that you can’t draw just be assured that I can’t either but I keep doing it anyway

"When I do generate content using #AI, I find that the requirement to check it for accuracy negates any time saved during the writing part."
This has always been my experience with tools that are aimed to do the work on your behalf, including #CSS frameworks (when they were most popular).
Hey, that sounds cool!
1. Clicks link
2. Sees dark theme with colored pulsing dot in front of some all caps text
3. Closes window
✌️
Testing an expensive user research tool with all the AI stuff and promises.
It confidently reports behaviour about groups of people we’ve not spoken to.
I know this because I’ve done the interviews and done my own analysis. But the promise of these tools is to scale insights for people who haven’t, and there it will scale low quality insights 😑
I just want to point out that the MAGANazi party tried the culture war bullshit with Zohran Mamdani. They tried, and it failed.
They tried the socialism thing. He waved it away by leaning harder into workers rights.
They tried the trans thing. He waved it away by leaning harder into trans rights.
They tried the immigration thing. He waved it away by leaning harder into immigrant rights.
The lesson here for Centrist Democrats is simple. You don't fight Nazis by giving up ground to the Nazis. You fight Nazis by leaning harder into the wind and standing up for individual rights.

And framing it around "people have strong opinions" is some grade-A condescending douchebaggery.
