I read some post about how Mastodon consists primarily of German-speaking creatures talking in English. I'm gonna do a poll, need to test that. Boosts highy appreciated!
So, do you speak German?
ok, so I need to create-or-update a comment on a pull request.
I bet there's a GH action for it.
(looks at the gh action)
700,000k lines of JS code in dependencies 🤣
nope.
(ok, without dev deps it's just 68K but still).
Richard Scarry already summarized everything there is to know about cyber security, about 50 years ago.
I regret to inform you all that earlier today my children escaped their sandbox. I told them explicitly “stay in your sandbox” but they are just too powerful.
I cannot recall a time in the last 40 years when I was less inspired to make and share things on the internet. 🙁

All I want is a dry tech manual. A boring, well indexed manual that defines every function. Not a chatbot. Not a training. Not a million "articles" that I have to search through. Not a "community forum".
My rice cooker came with one. I want one for every piece of software I have to interact with.
Go get yourself a technical writer if necessary.
I. Want. An. Instructional. Manual.
Just saying, but if your Markdown tables look like this:
|---|---|
| Foo | this is too long to fit |
... then you probably misunderstood the point of #markdown
Getting reactions only from mastodon bots so far does not really improve the situation 😅
Recently I am really demotivated to write new blog posts, given that they will mostly only be consumed by bots in order to be used for summaries, often even without any citations. Does anybody feel the same? If yes, how do you handle that?
[doing things I’m bad at]
“ugh, I suck at everything”
[doing things I’m good at]
“this doesn’t count because it’s easy for me”
i want smaller applications with fewer updates made by people who are paid more to produce less code and i'm not kidding
I am wondering why I haven't added the time to my shell prompt years ago.
I have been a happy #FishShell user for a while, but recently it feels like moving back to #Bash could really make sense, since the latter is almost always installed on every server and docker container. I think I'll just play around with its configuration a bit and see if e.g. auto-completion can be tuned up to a point I'd find it acceptable.
I just realized my Mastodon experience hasn’t enshittified one bit in the 2+ years I’ve been here.
In fact, it’s only gotten better.

📸 Recently I had the issue that I wanted to upload some photos into a online album. However, the photos had the wrong date, so the online album sorted it all wrong.
🖥️ Luckily, the filename consisted of the actual date. So I decided to write a small #FishShell command to change all the modified dates.

In the age of LLM agents, the intruder is already inside the house. If you're running Claude Code in dangerous mode, a prompt injection attack is one bash call away from exfiltrating almost anything that's unlocked on your machine, or using your (auth'd) gh cli to steal your repo
