I was recently asked advice from a non-developer on handling developers they suspect are fobbing them off, saying “sorry this can't be done”. I’ll tell you what I told them:
Lead with “I strongly suspect this can’t be done but...”
The developer will now do everything in their power to prove you wrong. You are welcome.
The web needs to take itself less seriously. It's barely out of its twenties and suddenly it's all like "I can't make fansites for hippos anymore, I have businesses to run".
One of the other things we've been doing this year is trying to spot when something lands in all engines, and someone on the DevRel team will then write about it. We're collecting those posts here https://web.dev/tags/newly-interoperable/
Every news outlet should stand up a Mastondon instance for their reporters & staff.
It’ll be great to see GivennameFamilyname@mastodon.famousnewspaper.com or whatever domain they want to use.
Built in verification. Every reporter for the Washington Post on a washpo domain. Every reporter for the New York Times on an NYTimes domain. Etc, etc.
Plus the “local” feed for each instance becomes a feed of all the posts from that institution mixed together — providing extra discovery.
