Does anyone have a good reference for designing text based software for screen reader support? My ignorant ideas so far is most TUIs are bad because the cursor jumps around, and that huge volumes of output are probably annoying.
In context, it does have to be text, and it's specialized research software.

TIL about the history of the word "refusenik" [1]. The original meaning is about people (mainly Jews) refused permission to emigrate from the Soviet bloc. As words do, it has morphed in colloquial usage from "one who is refused", to "one who refuses". I'm fine with English as a living language, but this is history that happened while I was alive, so I think I'll make some effort to avoid the slang usage.

I have a script that uses "with Popen(...,stdout=PIPE)" to run a program and roughly run grep. Now I'd like to add a timeout, but I don't want to buffer the output (because it is unbounded), so run is out. Currently I am running /usr/bin/timeout from python, but this is, uh, unpythonic.
