Yes, yes we did contribute the whole position-area stuff to the spec. But that shouldn’t cause differences between implementations.

I haven’t seen anyone write about Safari’s implementation yet… but also, it’s still in beta, still a work in progress. Any “evaluation of differences” will be quickly out of date.

Keep an eye on Safari Technology Preview. Keep updating to the latest beta throughout the summer. There are months to go before anyone should worry.

And yes, we should write an article!

Elika and I discussing CSS… talking about inventing new ways to combine CSS Grid with Flow layout. Use `grid-template-columns` in the inline-direction, without having to worry about what's nested in what — cascades all the way down. And can combine with floats.

Now we are talking about “super grids”.

Like `subgrid`, only it goes out/up instead of down. Yummy.

A lot of you are asking about masonry/waterfall-style layouts in the other direction. So another demo in on its way…

This is not quite like Flickr / similar, because those adjust the height of each row to magically get that row of photos to line up with the edge of the page/container.

This demo has a fixed total number of rows (which can change at breakpoints, but is still fixed). And the extra content is all overflowing off the right edge of the page. You scroll sideways to see more images.
