"98% of readers prefer imperfect-yet-authentic human writing; most will stop reading, block you, and downvote you if they suspect AI

[..]

TL;DR Readers really despise and distrust articles that seem shaped by AI. They not only stop reading, but also block and punish the author."

Report: How developers react to AI-scented blog posts

Bookmarked.

It goes on: "The film, rooted in the spirit of ‘Beyond Rebel, Raval’, reimagines a university graduation speech and sets the CUPRA Raval within a story where identity is forged and conventions are challenged"

And THEN: "Built on the belief that the streets teach you the most relevant aspects in life rather than classrooms, the campaign captures a mindset of never stop learning at the ‘University of the Streets’, inspiring a new generation to find their very own way to success"

WTF

Car ads have always been dumb but this is just insulting: https://www.seat-cupra-mediacenter.com/CUPRA-Brand/cupra-news/2026/cupra-turns-streets-into-worlds-most-powerful-classroom-with-university-streets-global-launch-campaign-for-cupra-raval

It starts with:

"CUPRA launches ‘University of the Streets’, with [redacted] as the main protagonists in a film where the streets take over the narrative and the CUPRA Raval emerges as the symbol of a new cultural movement"

I’ve been thinking: now, more than ever, it’s the safest and best time to be yourself when designing your personal website.
If every job application is going to be ignored by the awful process it gets sent to, then might as well go bananas on a personal website?
Why keep your content as merely a “professional outlet” if you always wanted more but were afraid?
People are craving real content now more than ever. We are burned out from our screens, yes… But we’re here.

A new Git version just dropped and it comes with a new experimental `history` command!

`reword` can be used to change commit messages and `split` can untangle a single commit into multiple ones.

No more interactive rebase. 🎉

I don't own a car. I take public transit everywhere, and I do think personal vehicle use has real environmental costs. But I don't think driving is inherently unethical.

I live in Seoul, and the city makes transit easy for me. That's not a virtue. It's a condition I happen to benefit from. Some people live where transit barely exists, or where it doesn't get them to work, school, or care. In those places, driving is not optional.

The same is true of flying. In parts of Europe you can cross borders by train. In island nations, or in places with weak land connections, flying may be the only realistic option. “Just fly less” means very different things in those places.

A lot of what gets called my ethical choices comes from the conditions I live in. That makes me wary of turning structural failures into personal morality. If the alternative is missing or unusable, shaming people for not choosing it solves nothing.

When environmental harm gets framed as individual moral failure, attention shifts away from the structural changes that would actually matter. It's not an accident that oil companies spent decades popularizing the idea of the personal carbon footprint.

Rushing to the hospital Emergency Room has emerged as perhaps the paramount objective of slamming one’s own dick in a doorway.

I guess I am officially a hobbyist und soon professionally irrelevant. https://www.principalengineer.com/p/the-7-levels-of-software-engineering

When we design for disabilities, we make things better for everyone. This is called the Curb-Cut Effect. The term was coined by disability students and activists in the 70s, who added curb cuts to the Berkeley sidewalks to make access easier for those in wheelchairs. They discovered those also helped people with strollers, using trolleys for deliveries, etc.

It's concerning to me that this """ethical dilemma""" comes up so frequently regarding self-driving cars. Does self-driving mean *never slows or stops*? Are self-driving cars all designed after the bus in Speed?

I would dearly love to move everyone I know off WhatsApp onto Signal. But I know in my heart that is not going to happen. Gotta pick your battles.

This is pretty wild — our friends at "Read The Docs" saw file download traffic drop by 75% after blocking AI bots.

I have identified a complex, historic, interpersonal, and politically charged problem, with a high degree of nuance and situational disparity.

I'm not going to link to the article, but if you're one of the people instrumental in creating generative AI, I don't see why you should also get to be the person who ruefully contemplates its dangers and how it needs to be tempered. Don't make it then, dickhead.
