Wow, thanks for the responses, all. I'll take a look at all these today.

I’m ready for a VPN. I know folks around here have some favorites.

"Layers upon layers upon layers"

Source code: https://codeberg.org/hamoid/genuary2025/src/branch/main/src/main/kotlin/Genuary02.kt

Inspired by the white plastic plate we have under our sprouting glass jars to collect water. The water is not perfectly transparent and leaves subtle wobbly contours on the plate. After more and more layers of subtractive tinted water, a beautiful painting is being revealed.

🎭 Guess I better change all my avatars back.

I'm going to be participating in #Genuary this year. I probably won't code a #GenerativeArt piece every day, but this seems like a good excuse to get back into coding some art.

Here are some outputs of the program I wrote for the first prompt: "Vertical or horizontal lines only."

The art is inspired by foggy mountainscapes on long car drives. The code is written in #JavaScript to output #SVGs.

Not sure if how many of these I'll get to, but here's a Genuary sketch using today's prompt. Code here: https://gitlab.com/mitten-la/py5-sketches/-/tree/main/20250101

i would rather light myself on fire in the desert, thank you very much.

⬛ It might be sufficiently dark outside that I can watch Silo now.

For 2025 I think we should just ignore every "AI did this thing" report that does not explicitly state the resource cost (energy/CO2 for training and inference, hardware requirements/e-waste). We just cannot afford burning the planet for technological parlor tricks.

👋 Taking an indefinite hiatus from the internet. (https://micro.anniegreens.lol/2024/12/13/taking-an-indefinite.html)

Artist makes website that lets you take selfies through NYC's network of traffic cameras. NYC Department of Transportation sends cease and desist. Artist nails cease and desist to a very very very long pole & holds it up to one of the cameras to take a photo of it

Do you know how compliant your web site/app is with accessibility standards?

I'd love to help you find out, and go beyond compliance! 😌

These are probably more affordable than you think:
- Reviews & Remediation
- Cross-team Training
- Integrating a11y earlier

"Nearly 70% of those laid off in the 2022 tech layoffs were women."

Since there's only 21% women in tech, I can't see how this is anything other than discrimination.

https://www.wired.com/story/tyranny-tech-bros-silicon-valley-activism/

Job termination rates also show discrimination against BIPOC, queer, and disabled people.

I'm doing it. I'm finally doing it.

I'm starting a daily #blogging habit.

Don't let your dreams be dreams, as they say!

Just. Do. It. 😎

This is my top goal in 2025, and I'm PUMPED! 💪

`aria-label` and `aria-labelledby` aren't allowed on divs, spans, and other static text elements out of the box, and *most* screenreaders won't announce them.

You don't see pwME going around killing insurance CEOs. First of all, we don't have the energy.

A pretty decent read on the labyrinth system in the US built to keep us from getting help without a lawyer, which is such a privilege, both from a monetary aspect, but also from a personal energy consumption aspect. Something which pwME just *do not have*. The system is designed to keep us out.
