This is the month with no days off and it’s making me dig deep in the Barrel of Fortitude for extra grit and determination.

My mental health is feeling dingy and rather crunked up. What I really crave just now is #BonkWave.

@axwax: thank you for CLONK! It’s getting me through the extra craggy bits.

On the Day of Labour, I laboured. I battled the local council website for 3 hours (which appears to have been written by AI for the very odd use of language) and hopefully have submitted our liquor license renewal correctly.

We have 3 more beers to package for our Beer Advent Calendars (2 are very short runs that will hopefully not be too onerous), and I have to brew more Resonator IPA so we don't run out over the summer period and then I can - take - a - breather - and - recover a bit. Hopefully.

That was a week. A warm soak with a generous application of magnesium sulfate for the soaking water and rye whiskey (mixed 1:2 with cold water) plus a dash of walnut bitters with a touch of maple syrup for the soakee means I’ll unwind and mellow away the tribulations of the day. That’s feeling much better even as I write.

‘Tis pleasant. Maybe later there will be #BonkWave or #NotBonkWave.

Friends, my heart is heavy with the way that late stage capitalism makes me feel wretched.

#BrewKettle rocket nozzle. This is a safety feature! The steam condenser draws vapor and steam off the boiling wort and keeps the kettle from becoming a pressure vessel while in use. I think it also results in a more vigorous boils as it reduces the atmospheric pressure in the kettle too.

A little slow-motion action makes it mesmerising.

Should I ignore the inefficiencies of using three abstractions (lop~, bp~, and hip~) and instead have a cross-fade between the three results rather than try to build my own SVF from scratch?

I think I may have just answered my own question in asking. Curious how often this seems to happen.

My notes are being accumulated here:

#PlugData folk? I am going through an iterative process of running at a wall and not managing to get passed it. I dust myself off and try again every month or three, but nothing has come of this after more than 8 months frustration.

I *really* want to try and work out how to make a State Variable Filter from #Vanilla components so that I can make an abstraction from it and so #HeavyCompiler can work with it.

It looks like no one has made one before that has shared it into any of the places which can be searched.

Slop answers are not helpful and confuse things. I am aware enough to see the immediate flaws when these are presented, but this is only helping in identifying what does not work.

Is there a #DSP person that uses either #PureData or PlugData out there who might be willing to offer some guidance?

This is for educational purposes and any result would want to be firmly grounded in CC and preferably an open #MITlicense.

My beloved does NOT respond well to only pharmacist-only cough suppressant that is made with dextromethorphan and synthetic sweeteners.

So I am engaging in cauldron-adjacent #HomeRemedies.

To a scant 250mL of boiled water I have added a heaped teaspoon each of rubbed sage and thyme and a generous grind of black pepper. I simmered this for a few minutes and stirred in a good teaspoon of local honey.

Next I strained a tin of sliced pineapple for the juice (80mL or so).

I then sieved the herbal infusion through a fine tea strainer, added half the pineapple juice and a dozen drops or so of #ElixirVegetal de la Grande-Chartreuse.

It smells amazing and tastes nice with a warming afterglow from the black pepper.

I hope it settles the cough and soothes the throat.

Today on #RNZ the announcer mentioned that they had used #AI to get some details for their #MorningReport segment. And they admitted an error in reporting as the AI was wrong (shock and surprise).

My confidence in RNZ has just plunged.

Why is anyone trusting the enslopification regurgitations?

I did not get a second coffee today as my #EspressoMachine packed an epic sad. Fortunately I know a local wizard and enchantress who had parts and were able to help. There will be #coffee tomorrow!

This failure mode was a first for the repair folks.

“Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action."

A second blown heating element. Let’s see how long the third one (manufactured in the past two weeks) lasts for, hmmm?

Some days are vastly more exciting (and expensive) than I care for.

@Blender I've just cancelled my Sliver membership for the #BlenderDevelopmentFund I clearly do not need to contribute now that #AnthropicAI is. #Blender3D

Today my beloved and I were watching a murder mystery (#Ludwig an excellent show with #DavidMitchell) which made a passing reference to the 1963 Hasbro game “Mousetrap”. She mentioned that she would have loved to play it as a child, but her set was incomplete and did not work properly.

I turned to her and said, “no way! It was the same at our home too. Our game was missing bits and wouldn’t go either!”

37 years as besties and we still have special discoveries to make.

And on #303Day let us never forget #CharanjitSingh and his amazing #10RagasToADiscoBeat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB4RYBpwV0A

#OmriCohen has a nice #VCVRack #303Day edition that he just posted.

Happy #303Day to all who appreciate the acid squelchiness of the #RolandTB303. Go make some skwonks!

Hello there #BitwigStudio #ElectronicMusic folks!

I've given my AS-1973 FET Compressor preset a thorough re-work and am happy to tell you about it. It has three bands, and it compresses in a manner similar to a #Drawmer1973. It is inspired from some plugins that I tried on Windows, but since moving to #LinuxAudio #MusicProduction I have been building my own versions of things as presets.

As much as possible I try to develop in Bitwig version 4.0. Fans of #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave may also find this a handy tool to use.

You can grab a copy of the preset for free from my website: https://www.ambientspace.com/technical-notes/bitwig-notes/as-1973-fet-compressor

🙂Update - thank you everyone that boosted this!
The call for testers is now closed.

And when I say “Mimosas” these are a small amount of sparkling rosé with orange juice and half soda water. Refreshing and pleasant versus sloshed.
