It's that time again. For the last time I have released a batch of wallpapers for my wallpaper pack. Not just VANTABlack Sunrise, but another one you can read about in the new Dev Log here https://vantablack2000.itch.io/wallpaperpack/devlog/1666331/wallpaper-pack-10-vantablack-sunrise

It's been a fun journey and now the wallpaper pack is finished. It's on sale for only $1.00 for the next 10 days.

Thank you to everyone who supported me during the development of the wallpaper pack and enjoyed the wallpapers.

Edit: It didn't embed, so here is the wallpaper.

This is my 7th wallpaper. Snowy Mountain Landscape. This one was a lot of fun to model from the mountain, the trees, and the animals that I did myself. I think this is the first time I really tried to do animals not an illusion like Snowy Night Walk. The mountain started from the tip and I extruded points out and went from there.

While the countdown is going on though my Itch.io page has begun to change too.

Day 6 has now been added to the countdown.

My 6th wallpaper was VANTABlack Bedroom. This is when I started to question whether I was making MY ART or putting stuff out for money. There are a lot of details in this one that I can't go into in the character limit Mastodon or my instance gives me, so you will have to look on the countdown discussion board to see the rest.

Day 5 has now been added to the countdown.

My next wallpaper was New Years 2026. I didn't go for a landscape or anything like that just something simple since the 2026 was the main theme. I did have fun going for a New Year Ball Drop sort of theme for the background though. Weird to think we are over halfway through 2026 already.

Day 4 has now been added to the countdown.

My next wallpaper was Snowy Night walk. I tried to make a snowy city, but didn't like how it looked, so I then sort of imagined someone out late on a walk just thinking about their life and stuff. The character here is actually an illusion and on the other side of it it's just a bunch of disconnected models.

There's also a surprise, but you have to read it on Itch.io for the surprise.

Day 3 has now been added to the Itch.io countdown.

Snowy Forest Landscape was my 3rd wallpaper. I started with making a landscape with trees and had to add snow because I was still in the winter mood, but then had fun adding creatures. We got slimes, snowmen, and even creatures based on the snow flinxes in Terraria. It was fun, but I still worry I had a bit of too much focus on money in this one.

Day 2 has now been added. To the Itch.io Countdown.

Christmas Living Room was my 2nd wallpaper. At first I was going to go for something closer to a standard wallpaper based on an old Mac Wallpaper I used as a reference for the first thumbnail for the pack. When that wasn't working out though I just decided I was in a Christmas Mood, so why not make a Christmas Living Room. I think it turned out well at least.

I should add that the QnA will last until Wallpaper 10 is released.

The countdown has officially started.

There is now a Discussion Post for the Countdown here https://itch.io/t/6908459/countdown-to-wallpaper-10

Hexagonal Glow was the first wallpaper and I did it on short notice trying to make a chill wallpaper with an interesting effect.

I am also doing a QnA where if you comment a question about me or the wallpaper pack either here or on the discussion board I will answer it within reason and if I don't answer I will explain why.

RE: https://toots.niark.nexus/@qaqelol/116454060532869893

It's already on my wishlist on Itch.io

People should add it to their wishlists on their preferred platform though. It's a fun game.

I just looked into Elementary OS and it looks intriguing. Don't know if I would use it because it looks like more of a MAC like interface, but everything being pay what you want similar to Itch.io sounds very intriguing.

In a world where so many things are getting enshittified Elementary OS being PWYW AND having NO AI is a huge plus.

Edit: Sorry I forgot to add this, but happy birthday as well. Sorry if I am a little late.

Well I tried a GMTK Jam entry because it appeared in my Itch.io feed.

https://red-sauce.itch.io/overpacked

It was fun for a Game Jam game. You get OP quick, but it's a fun little game with multiple possible builds.

It's a incremental game about stuffing a backpack in a short amount of time. It has random upgrade choices instead of a skill tree though.

Red Sauce is also one of the devs behind Prerolled a game by @qaqelol I don't know if Red Sauce themselves are on Mastodon though.

I tend to do my own stuff personally, but I am boosting to spread visibilty.

I think the thing I struggle most with is firmware for stuff like my Watchy (Open Source Watch)

In the Dev Log I also go into a little bit of detail on what VANTABlack as a character means to me.

Time for Wallpaper Wednesday again. This time the wallpaper is a little darker (Both literally and figuratively)

You can read more about it at the Dev Log Here: https://vantablack2000.itch.io/wallpaperpack/devlog/1504665/wallpaper-9-vantablack-breakdown

Here's the free version of the wallpaper.

It's been a while, but I updated my wallpaper pack. I added a little giveaway to this dev log. More details in the Dev Log itself.

Sorry I forgot to actually link the Dev Log. Here's a link to it for those who want to see it. https://vantablack2000.itch.io/wallpaperpack/devlog/1323556/wallpaper-7-snowy-mountain-landscape

It's that time again. I updated the wallpaper pack again. This time it is a Mountain Landscape.

I have also decided to move away from weekly wallpapers. I feel like I need to take some time on my art because it still feels like I am making a product and not my own art. I have decided at least for now I am going to leave the wallpaper at 10 wallpapers then call it over for further notice.

I realized my introduction post isn't the best, so here's go number 2 after over a year on Mastodon.

My name is VANTABlack. I am an artist who works in a variety of mediums. I started as a solo game developer which grew into getting into art and music for games which then just turned into making art and music. I put all of my projects either here on Mastodon or on my Itch.io page https://vantablack2000.itch.io/

I never use Generative AI for any part of my projects.
#introduction

I also added alternate wallpapers for each wallpaper to show off some things you can do if you have the blend file. More details on all that are in the Dev Log. I hope you all enjoy the new wallpapers and I will try to have more fun with art as I make these wallpapers and grow as an artist. Part of me hopes I can help other people grow to love art too with this project.
