Mono Lake, California. The weather was perfect, and most of the time we were the only two. So quiet.

Took a short road trip with a friend -- nothing planned, totally impromptu.
Fall colors in Bridgeport, CA.

Today is my husband's birthday. I was on the phone with the bank this morning, looking out the window while being on hold, trying not to cry.
It's been 13 days. It hasn't gotten easier.

Also I sold three out of four pieces so far, so combined with the awards, it's lucrative 🙌

I don't watch movies often, but I wanted some distraction so I rented this movie "It Ends with Us" and now I'm regretting it. I've never paused a movie this often. I'm only half way in, and it's taking hours to get to this point. Very uncomfortable movie. Actors are very charming though.

Good news for a change; I won the first place and second place for the pastel division in Statewide Miniature Show.

Here, take some flowers because tomorrow is Monday.
I love it that in the fall, rabbitbrushes are everywhere, blooming with all their might, declaring their stardom.

Another wildfire.
About 10 miles away but it looks so much closer.

It's been a week since husband passed away. My brother-in-law just left today, and I'm going to start understanding what death of spouse really means.
September was hard; and it ends today. Thank you for your kind thoughts and words.

Here, take some flowers because tomorrow is Monday.
Rabbitbrush is in nearly full bloom, and the fields are golden.

The south face of Beinn Bhan.

"I sit with my grief. I mother it. I hold its small, hot hand. I don’t say, shhh. I don’t say, its okay. I wait until it is done having feelings. Then we stand and we go wash the dishes. We crack open bedroom doors, step over the creaks, and kiss the children. We are sore from this grief, like we’ve returned from a run, like we are training for a marathon. I’m with you all the way, says my grief, whispering, and then we splash our face with water and stretch, one big shadow and one small."

The last cloudscape from the hospital room. We are going home today.

Sunset yesterday from the hospital room. Excuse the reflections.

Husband and I met in the early 90's while working for a large software firm in California. We were on same project for years. A young nursing assistant asked how we met, and her eyes lit up; "you guys give me hope!"
Our son (early 20's) said relationships don't come by easily nowadays -- dating app or nothing. I don't think our relationship came by easily, but it was slowly built by building together, at work, at life, and everything. Now he only has days left and I'm at a loss.

Here, take some flowers because tomorrow is Monday. Here I am sitting in the hospital room beside sleeping husband, and looking for some flowers to give you in my photos... Artichoke flowers from the farm.

My "retail therapy" yesterday was some cold-hardy succulents and a bar of handmade soap from one of my favorite local shops. This morning I planted them in the broken water fountain. A short session of YouTube yoga, then shower, before I head out to the hospital.

View from the hospital room.
Still a bit smokey/hazy but so much better than yesterday.
