Reading about books other people here publish or read themselves ... wishing I could buy one of these, but not available.

Internet, I have the absolute pleasure of introducing you to Larry. Larry is my Rollie's new kitten. We're so excited to welcome him to our family. ❤️

No, I was not away - but my server moved. Other than reported it is not abandoned and will not be given up, they are self hosting now so I'll stay. I might have missed some of your news, the pictures are still catching up but I think this is temporary.
I am taking a breath today - last week was a lot. Thursday my hb was discharged from the hospital after his pneumonia, he is still not too well, but it looks better already. We had to make some changes at home which ate a lot of my energy.

The day started with news from one of our sons. My husband is very happy, I'm not so sure if I should smile or cry. Maybe I'll just wait and see how this works out.
Some things are feeling wrong these days and I just don't know ...

After a look at my desk and computer this morning I decided to make it a slow day. Anyway, it's Friday, most people here have a day off, why not me.
The morning is nice and cool with 21°C. It will get hot again, I think, maybe up to 35°C, but as it is not too humid it is still bearable. And it cools down in the night - we are living at nearly 1000m above sea level, that helps a lot.
I hope you all have a good day.

Today in Amman we expect 22 - 34°C. Ok, it's end of July and this is not much above normal, if I'm not mistaken. It might stay like this for some time, but mostly I think we are well equipped to deal with this type of temperature. For anybody working outside it is a lot - fortunately many companies change working hours; street cleaners work morning and evening, with a long brake during the hot time. Some building companies let their employees just work at night

I was shocked to read this.
"Make note of this. It is the 10th of July 2026. Around 10:00am local time. A pogrom is coming. Everyone knows it.
If people of colour, queer people, or anyone else deemed undesirable by the supremacist movement are attacked in any way, know that this was predictable."

After dropping out completely for about 36 hours I thought I could get back to work again today, but noticed my brain needs more time. Nothing special, just some infection that knocked me out for good Wednesday evening.
On the positive side: one payment arrived, faster than I hoped. Still, we'll have to reduce our expenses considering our income this year ...
Weather is nice, around 29C daytime, 20C in the night - good summer weather in Amman. Cats are ok, only Juliet does not eat well.

Not a good start - a cloudfare problem, so I have to wait until I can access that website. Okay, back to editing. Or cleaning? Weekend tomorrow, the house could need some brush up.

I sometimes post about working. Translating novels. Not all of them are my taste, but, well, it's work.
And then there are the books I do love myself. Yesterday the latest of Steven McKay's series was published and I think they look great - I'm a big admirer of the cover artist!
This is of course the German version, but if you got curious, you can also read them in English, of course.

I can only share the link - wish I could do more to help CC @ccohanlon and his wife managing their new home.

Got up early enough to plan some work, until I found out that I'm still too tired to sit at the desk. This last week has cost me more energy than I noticed. Well, let's see how the day will go. For now I'll slump here at the laptop, maybe get some edit done.
Just closed the window - the air outside is nice but still too cool for me sitting here.
Battuta just came home after a two hours stroll and is now sitting between me and the keyboard, Princess at my feet.

Now I should try to concentrate on my work - new books are waiting, and I am very happy about these.
And maybe my recently a bit neglected housework ...

And still - I feel we are privileged here when it comes to access to good health care, getting treated decently by doctors and nurses (btw - in the hospital the nurses don't look half as overwhelmed as I saw them even years ago in Germany). BTW - the hospital has a very good AC. My hb spend all Sunday there between one doctor here and another lab there but said it was absolutely okay.
I am incredibly grateful for all this - I've seen other days.

I might have been a bit quiet the last days. I'm still fighting this GI problem which costs me more power than I like and there is too much happening, too (not counting two very sweet kitten who don't always find the way to their litter box!).
My hb had discussions with more people and doctors yesterday and we will have to take some decisions - now the second doc shook his head and declared his as a rare case.
Plus some local considerations as to where and who ...

Since summer came and the nights are warm my office cat Battuta spends them mostly outside, comes back in the morning in time for starting my working day.
I love all our cats and when I'm around the house usually the younger ones claim my attention - but she is somehow more my cat, close to my heart. Just now she is sleeping at my feet. I looked into my archive of photos to find a good shot of her beauty.

Yesterday was a government holiday in Jordan - 1st Muharram, hijri (islamic) new year. Today is normally a working day but everywhere they are to start not earlier than 10 am - because football. I personally boycott these games, but the Jordanians, first time participants in a world cup, are in general football crazy and now, as the game must be about to start, it is very quiet outside.
In our house everyone but me is sleeping after breakfast, my sweet Battuta on my feet.

And for someone like me it is a blessing to have a husband who enjoys cooking - and who is feeling better since two days so he went shopping and is now occupying the kitchen. He always says if I want to help him I should stay away until lunch is ready.
Okay.

I settled for an arabic coffee once I decided to take a break.
#coffee #today

Dreaming of coffee - like the big latte macchiato I had in the mall the other day. Maybe tomorrow, if we have to take Juliet to the vet.
