Navi Pillay, Nobel Peace Prize winner, last year:

“Last month, we published a legal analysis of Israel’s conduct in the Gaza Strip pursuant to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

We concluded that the State of Israel is responsible for the commission of four genocidal acts in Gaza with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, as such.”

#GreatDismal #Neuromancer #SciFi Moved on from Nightwing parafoils to drones, which on the whole is better.

#Badenoch : perhaps not a very good engineer. Also not demonstrating ability to run an effective large enterprise, as distinct from stand up and offer a cult of personality.

These days, instead of screaming into the void, I just sit down beside it, and say "I know, Void, I know". Even voids need to be comforted occasionally, everybody screams at them and nobody's giving back.

Switzerland's great migration away from US Tech begins. 🎉🇨🇭

The Swiss Federal Government has launched a pilot program to replace MS365 on 3,000 workstations with openDesk, a German open-source alternative.

The Swiss are taking a step in the right direction to achieve #DigitalSovereignty and control of their digital infrastructure.

Find out which other European countries are taking steps to distance themselves from US tech 👉🏼

One of the stronger arguments in favour of shunning, ostracizing and generally ruining the lives of young rapists is that if you don’t you end up with a national political apparatus full of rapists 30 or 40 years later.

He was caught and imprisoned for a deliberate #fraud getting him half a million pounds.

Also, as an #author I thought him rather bad, insultingly so in the quality of his output.

Later: perhaps the queuing was not so bad.
Apparently £5M gets you a fabulously tough door jamb.
Or something.

I re-read this - written by Dorothy Thompson in 1941 - every so often, and it holds astonishingly true: Who Goes Nazi?

https://harpers.org/archive/1941/08/who-goes-nazi/

(1/?)

"It’s fun—a macabre sort of fun—this parlor game of “Who Goes Nazi?” And it simplifies things—asking the question in regard to specific personalities.

Kind, good, happy, gentlemanly, secure people never go Nazi. They may be the gentle philosopher whose name is in the Blue Book, or Bill from City College to whom democracy gave a chance to design airplanes—you’ll never make Nazis out of them. But the frustrated and humiliated intellectual, the rich and scared speculator, the spoiled son, the labor tyrant, the fellow who has achieved success by smelling out the wind of success—they would all go Nazi in a crisis.

Believe me, nice people don’t go Nazi. Their race, color, creed, or social condition is not the criterion. It is something in them.

Those who haven’t anything in them to tell them what they like and what they don’t—whether it is breeding, or happiness, or wisdom, or a code, however old-fashioned or however modern, go Nazi. It’s an amusing game. Try it at the next big party you go to."
