2. Up so late, I saw the message that my step-granddaughter made her way into the world yesterday. Welcome, Margot!
3. Number 2 made up for a big sad thing as my beloved aunt died last week. She was the lovely aunt who took you places and you had fun with. She spread joy to her 20 nieces and nephews over 60+ years. That’s a big legacy.
Nice to know that zucchini / courgette overproduction is as common to #Cumbria as it is to #California. Not only did I get my hair colored, my new hairdresser threw in a free large round courgette!
Carted around tubes of hand sanitizer for years. Finally found a use for them: cleaning tree sap off of two cars. It takes off all the sap blobs and drippy goop marks like a pro.

Healer: offers then sends a healing potion
Me: “thx, but I still need a long rest”
Mage: “Ahh. It’s necrotic damage. Much harder to heal”
I think I’ll be on this couch for another while yet…
Had a sore tummy over the weekend. Finally went to emergency on Monday am. Had my #gallbladder out later that day. It was full of ‘sludge’ and blocked. No wonder I was in pain. Now I’m home sleeping on the couch to recover.
Feeling sick this afternoon. Told my husband. “Maybe because you had a root canal yesterday.” Oh yeah.
I’m so used to being in pain that I forget: the absence of pain doesn’t mean I’m well. Resting now.
Finding #denali : look beyond the black peaks, the lower clouds. Yes, above them in the snow with its own small cap of cloud. There it is towering above the smaller peaks like the kid who is much taller than its classmates. Amazing.
Finally sat down in the hotel room last night. Said I wanted to go on the treadmill to get steps in and make my June badge. Husband said “You’re working full time which starts at 5 am, just got A+ on 2 online UC extension courses, had 2 bouts of oral surgery and are navigating a cross country #move. You spent all day at the old house working then dropping off items and were so tired you napped in the car. No one will remember your June badge.” So I sat back down and took a shower to get the grime off. Smart man!
1) The house is packed up waiting for a moving truck Tuesday
2) My husband and I had a great time finishing off a redwood planter and replacing ripped outdoor seat fabric - helping each other out with the tough bits
3) The car is packed for his cross country trip. I managed to negotiate space for my orchids and a pineapple plant with compost worms in the bottom of the pot. One has priorities! #3goodthings
@markrprior I can usually understand a fair bit of Spanish, but I was coming up blank. When the cyclist used the Basque word for “Thank you,” the game was up! Here’s a roadside “Eskerrik asko” sign thanking cyclists for used water bottles during the 2024 #vuelta a Espana.
40 years ago I celebrated graduating from college with a car trip through then Yugoslavia and into #greece. South of Thessaloniki, I fell asleep in the back seat. The driver skidded on an oil patch and we rolled down the mountain. I woke up back in a Thessaloniki hospital corridor with a broken jaw. This leaves my mouth a dental wrecking field with an annual dental bill that would have paid for a house deposit by now. Yesterday I had 2 bone grafts and an implant put in. $6000 and I look like a chipmunk! So, no I don’t have #3goodthings except that after all these years, I’m grateful to be alive. I came really close to not making it.

1) Dropped my car off at the shop. Yesterday it was losing power on my last mile home. Today it’s working fine. Cross your fingers all is ok. Then biked off to train station.
2) Took a couple of folks who are also looking for work to eat Dim Sum. Sometime you have to have a bit of fun. And boy was the food good!
2) Biked 16 miles home. Gotta burn off the Dim Sum! Wind at my back! Wheeee!

Fell while #biking today on a large and busy street. My tire got stuck between cement and asphalt and over I went! Knee and elbow scraped up and maybe a cracked rib. I’ll skip the gory pics. Thanks to the guy who pulled me up and out of the way of cars. The guy who helped me carry my bike off the train and finally the fruit sellers who gave me a chunk of ice so I could clean my owies. There are good people in this world. #BikeTooter

After one disastrous ‘quick’ trip to the mall, we decided this year to boycott driving to shopping malls. We watch cars gridlocked in the parking lot - and we walk or bike right through the congested mess. #bikenite
Lots of videos on youtube about how "AI is dangerous" and they all seem to focus on the "it will become sentient and overthrow us" silliness. It's dangerous because it _isn't_ intelligent. It spews out crappy, fake information which will crowd out real information and rot all our brains. It's automated stupefaction.
