In my youth, We had free University education
We had grants to help the less well off
We had libraries
We had youth clubs
We had affordable public transport
A functioning Health service
A functioning Judicial system
Police stations and Police on the beat/patrols
Not everything was perfect, but we had all these things.

Given that Barcelona are considered to be the best team in the world (certainly in the top two), this was a score that showed Barca's superiority and class.
Liverpool needed to score 4 goals and not concede one - against Barcelona a prolific scoring team with the magical Lionel Messi playing for them. This was a mountain to climb.
Barcelona were 50-1 favourites for this game.
