Most of you have heard the word 'shrinkflation' As inflation makes things more expensive, the size of those things shrinks so that manufacturers can claim that they're not raising prices. But it's not often you can actually see it in action.

I could sit here and write about all the facts I know for certain.. But I can't prove that to you because I don;t have pictorial evidence to back it up.

Like certain packs of food I buy that used to be 150g and are now 110g and the price that used to be 79p is now £1.79.. But they're ALWAYS (and I do mean always) on offer for 2 for £2.

So this is shrinkflation in a visual form for you.

A mars bar from 1991, was 62g whilst a mars bar today is 40g... and many years ago, I remember reading that mars were saying... "Our bars have always been 54g" when confronted with the same accusation.

But here it is... the price of a mars bar has increased massively, whilst the size of a mars bar has decreased 50%.

I propose a new law... if any product is changed in anyway... be it quality of ingredients, the size or quantity of the contents. 50% of the front facing packaging must tell consumers exactly what was changed and by how much? If you shrink the size from 60g to 40g you must include not only the weight change, but the percentage change... and that packaging remains in effect for 12 months.

Also... the pictures on the packaging, must be the actual size of the contents of the packaging for all food related items... Japan manages to have this law and it's not an issue... We should have it too,

My mum knows she's pissed me off big time... she's being super polite and it's a little unsettling to her normal behaviour.

'Convenience'

A lot of the people out there are lazy, selfish and entitled people who care more for their own 'convenience' than they do anything else.

They don't care about things outside of their front door, and they won't until it's kicked down and they're finally affected.

So I could have written something else here... preached to the echo chamber that is the fediverse... which is full of many like minded people as I.

We don't need a small change being made by a small number of people... we sadly need a global uprising. No rights have ever been won peacefully, they've been fought for and people have died in those fights.

But everyone needs to fight... and that fight starts by putting your 'convenience' aside for once... By being a pain in the arse to every single person you know who uses their convenience as an excuse for not doing anything... call them out, shame them... because asking politely doesn't work. Pointing out truth and facts doesn't work... Make them ashamed to be the lazy, entitled and selfish people that they've become... because people won;t change unless forced to face the harsh reality of the evil they embrace.

Meanwhile... I'll be over here screaming into the abyss as usual hoping that just one person will listen, just one person will make a change to their lives, just one person will try to convince others to do the same.

Otherwise... we're all fucked. No one gets out alive, not even the ultrarich in their bunkers.... under millions of tons of concrete that the rest of the world will pour over their tombs.

Found one minor issue with the furniture in the new sun room.

You can't slouch with your feet up on the coffee table reading a book... at least not for more than an hour.

Either coffee table is a little too high when you've got your feet on a cushion (otherwise the wood hurts your feet after a short while) or you need extra cushions behind your lower back for support.

Sitting upright on them for hours is fine, did that yesterday without any problems... slouching in a comfy reading position... not so much.

Those 1st world problems sure are a basty.

Used the new sun room properly today... had family over, we all sat out there for hours talking, with the doors open, the dog playing... It was lovely.

I've had to ban my mum using those 'colour catcher' sheets in the washing machine.

The new machine wouldn't unlock after a load had finished... Put it through a drain and spin cycle again... still refused to unlock.

Checked the manual, suggested I take the filter off... I did... slowly and with towels down on the floor and still made a huge mess... 4 times I ahd to slowly open the filter and mop up the mess... had to take the bottom plinth of the cupboards, pull the freezer and washer out to clean up... 10 towels later and I've cleared out the filter and found several of those washer sheets blocking it.

Basically... she puts one in... never checks that it comes out with the finished load.

She bought a new box yesterday... I've thrown them in the bin.
