aperiodic reminder that you can instruct git to automagically use different url scheme, eg. to avoid having to deal with http(s) auth even by accident.

simply run git config --global --edit and add lines like these:

so remember when I was joking about replacing FR-4 prepreg with a layer of barium titanate ceramic so you could have your entire power and ground layers act like a big distributed capacitor?

yeah turns out 3M had the same idea. they ground up a bunch of barium titanate, mixed it into their epoxy, and used it to make a line of fiberglass dielectrics for high embedded capacitance within PCBs. it achieves 14nF/in² and they sell it under the name "C-Ply".

Holy shit, the PCB design of this new sensor board, called Ophanim, of CERN’s Aegis experiment just fucking slaps. Right now, there don’t seem to be many images of it on the web, but I hope to see more in the future.

if you're using VS Code (or editors based on it) and are frustrated with C/C++ IntelliSense being incredibly slow: ditch the Microsoft language server entirely and install clangd. clangd is actually fit for purpose, although the initial indexing is vastly slower
