    #CrossBorderRail fail 🙄

    Frankfurt - Paris ICE, on Interrail

    It’s the SNCF train manager who checks me

    I show my “Passzuschlag” and she had no idea what it was

    Not the first time that I know the Interrail rules on this route better than the train crew. And there must be plenty of Interrailers here!

    @jon But a 5,50 € ICE reservation would have been fine for her?

    @jon "Deutschland-Ticket. Ca c'est un train vers Deutschland, c'est pourquoi le Deutschland-Ticket doit être valide dans ce train."

    This might even work until the DB train manager shows up…

    @wrzlbrnft Ha. Reminds me of an Austrian pensioner I encountered at Hegyeshalom with a Klimaticket. He was trying to go to Budapest but was kicked off. “The train started in Austria! Of course this is valid all the way!” 🙄

    @jon

    Ha, then we probably crossed paths, also just boarded an ICE in Frankfurt, not to Paris though.

    @jon Lucky you. You were checked. My ride from Karlsruhe to Avignon was without any interaction with the staff. Nobody checked any ticket.

    @fbausch That's quite unusual. I am a regular on France-Germany ICEs and TGVs and not getting checked at all is very rare.

    @jon Yes, I was a little confused, too, because the train staff sat around a table not far away and passed by often but they did not check anybody.
