Insurance: credit, health, car, thresholds, a human to review. Josh Long and Cornelia Davis: any process with more than one step is a natural fit for workflow, and now the human in the loop might be the agent in the loop. Full episode on Coffee+Software. #Workflow #Temporal #AgenticAI

Happy reading, and have a lovely #Java weekend!
New on :foojay: Foojay: Shai Almog ( @debugagent ) explains how a Spring-style API can run as a small native Java server.
In a two-core Linux test, the CN1 Bench handler is 5.17 MiB and reaches its first verified response in 14.8 ms. The same two endpoints in Spring/GraalVM take 88.31 MiB and 43.6 ms.
The comparison covers HTTP stacks only, and the backend is still a work in progress.
New on :foojay: Foojay: @debugagent explains how Codename One lets you decide when to adopt Apple's new iOS look. Xcode 27 is selectable with the ios.xcode_version hint, and the theme is a separate choice from the SDK.
The release also adds a JPA inspired ORM, OpenTelemetry and WebSocket support for Java backends.
New on :foojay: Foojay: Tim Kelly explains how to build a job-application tracker SaaS with a MongoDB Atlas Ephemeral Cluster.
One API call gives an agent a live database. Build a Kanban board with Spring Boot and React, then claim the cluster in Atlas if the prototype is worth keeping.
Ephemeral clusters stay active for 48 hours and can be claimed for 7 days.

Every decision your agent makes is recorded in a durable log. The agent can't hide from the user. Cornelia Davis on agentic workflows: https://youtu.be/RWVRzYJ9kCs #AI #AgenticAI #Temporal
The agent isn't smart. The IDE is. IntelliJ's MCP server exposes 97 tools to agents. Anton Arhipov: https://youtu.be/zw_k-T1PysU #MCP #IntelliJ #AI

And here is version 1.2.8 already :-)
This fixes a regression in 1.2.7 where animations with track mattes of different sizes showed horizontal streaks during playback. Thanks to @bruno-obv for the detailed bug report and fix.
Aufschrift auf LKW gesichtet: „Mein Essen. Meine Entscheidung. Gegen die Zuckersteuer!“. Mir war nicht bewusst, dass mir eine Steuer Entscheidungen verbietet… das muss diese manische Angewohnheit sein, in jeder Steuerung ein „VeRboT!!!!!!!“ zu wittern…
A new version of Lottie4J, the #Java and #JavaFX library to render Lottie animations, is available. Release 1.2.7 doesn’t bring new features, but focuses fully on performance.
* Image Assets Are Decoded Once
* Optimized Track Mattes

We're doing a lot of work for the next Pi4J release. We don't have a release date yet, as several issues and pull requests are still in progress, and we want to get the API right before releasing, since V5 is the moment to clean up what we couldn’t change in a minor release. If you want to try it out, the snapshot builds are published automatically for every change on main.
A full overview of what's already done and still in progress in this status blog:

New on :foojay: Foojay Today: Ted Kupolov explains how to monitor a few Spring Boot apps on a small VPS without Prometheus and Grafana.
StatLite reads the Actuator and Micrometer data you already have and shows health, errors, latency, memory, uptime, and restarts. It's a single Go binary with SQLite storage.
The article also covers when a bigger platform is the better choice.
New on :foojay: Foojay Today: Nicolas Frankel @frankel explains the levels of bot protection he met while searching for his ancestors online.
He covers what works at each level, from simple curl options (User-Agent, Referer, cookies) to JavaScript checks like Anubis and Cloudflare, up to headless browser detection and why a headed browser with Playwright often helps.

With Temporal you write against a logical process that never goes away, even if a region goes belly up. Cornelia Davis: https://youtu.be/RWVRzYJ9kCs #Temporal #DurableExecution
Just finished my workshop on Java in the Small at #baselone. Slides here: https://horstmann.com/presentations/2026/baselone-smalljava
When you ask ChatGPT for an image, behind the scenes that entire process runs on Temporal. About a billion images a week. Full episode with Cornelia Davis on Coffee+Software. #Temporal #AI #Workflow https://youtu.be/RWVRzYJ9kCs
My favorite thing about this #BootifulPodcast episode is when Josh has technical issues and Cornelia keeps teaching.
