    Here's my hot take of the evening, courtesy of a decade in the biz:

    Your git history should be messy and reflective of increments large and small of work being done. Merges are good. Rebases are bad. Force pushing should be punishable by the full extent of the law.

    Once your code leaves your machine, you have to respect and expect that others may be working on top of it, and pulling the rug out from under them is a dick move.
