Since Trump is putting his name on everything in Washington, I hereby christen this algal disaster at the Reflecting Pool "Trump's Swamp."
Though we the taxpayers paid for it.
Strange because this is the same guy who said this about why he became CEO:
"...we are, of course, targeting China and Russia, which are currently our biggest growth markets. [...] My personal view is that family companies are... more values-oriented..."

A French village knows history and Hegseth:
"We found it unbelievable that they could send someone who held views and values contrary to democracy, human rights, peace and Europe... he came to push his far-right, anti-immigrant and warmongering rhetoric."

I can't decide whether to go on a BSides speaking tour, or just give up and throw my keyboard out the window to disappear on a sailboat into retirement.
Of course I'm assuming my talks wouldn't be rejected... or that my boat wouldn't sink. Not sure which is better.

And I suppose the part people don't see is the "Emperor" end-game of Thiel and Musk, South Africans still angry that U SAID ended their apartheid childhood (they both fled South Africa when majority rule came).
Think about who they are, elitist white supremacists, because that is the why and how of exploiting deregulation in tech to turn it evil and against America.
Where it stops being similar to East India and turns worse: the Company was chartered, so the state that made it could unmake it. Musk's power grew from America choosing abdication and dependence, so there is no charter to revoke and no alternative provider to switch to. The Company's reach was territorially bounded to India; his is global and orbital, sovereignty with no geography to seize back. The Company took two and a half centuries to accrete what this apparatus assembled in twenty. And the Company was a joint-stock body with a court of directors, a rapacious committee. His control is unitary and personal, which makes him ///less a corporation than an emperor///, exactly the form the modern state was built to abolish.

For a decade I've written exactly this! Over 100 pages of evidence on flyingpenguin.com. In 2015 I called him and Tesla fraud. In 2016 I called them the Titanic. Lawyers take my analysis to court, and win hundreds of millions in fines.
And yet... this private actor was allowed to accumulate public-scale power and generate public-scale harm in the open, on the record, for so long that he has reversed 300 years and now becomes the next East India Company.
My 2024 LSE commencement speech:

“'Surely,' you say, 'their companies must have some redeeming qualities, like what about South Africans dreaming of turning Mars into New Rhodesia?' Well yes, I suppose in the same way the East India Company really streamlined the tea trade. Have you seen the grand old counting house? I noticed the gift shop doesn’t mention how they balanced their moral ledger. The problem isn’t that technology being assembled is unimpressive — it’s measuring who really pays for it."
10 million dead is not an exaggeration.

There's a major responsibility gap. Those MOST responsible (AI developers, governments, regulators) are NOT the most vulnerable. Users & the public bear the most risk but have the least leverage to act. See figure:
