The Loops instructions say “maximum size: 40 MB, video duration: 3 minute(s)” and then also “high-resolution recommended: 1080p, 1440p, 4K” … how’s any 4K video going to be below 40MB? I get that video hosting can be intense in storage and traffic, but these limits almost defeat the point of having the platform in the first place. 🤔 I’d happily pay a few bucks per month for higher limits, but that doesn’t seem to be possible.

Sooo … for #CoopsDay and #CoopFortnight I’ve recorded a bunch of short videos and posted them as reels on Instagram, yapping about cooperatives. It bothers me that I haven’t shared them on the fediverse yet, but what’s the best way to do that? #Loops seemed like the obvious choice, but only allows 3mins and 40MB max per video … even 1min is easily 100MB though, and some videos are 5mins long. Mastodon’s video limit is 99MB. #Pixelfed has a 15MB limit. Do I really need to self-host a Peertube? 😢

Ab Oktober 2026 sollen alle 116 Bäume in der Ollenhauerstraße zwischen Reinickes Hof und Kögelstraße gefällt werden, damit die gesamte Straße ab 2027 für bis zu 19,5 Mio. € komplett neu gebaut werden kann.
Gerade diesen Sommer wird klar, wie wichtig Bäume und Grünflächen für das Stadtklima sind. Ich würde euch bitten, die Petition zu unterschreiben, auch wenn ihr nicht aus Reinickendorf seid.

A search engine that was actually "green" or "interested in being sustainable" would not deploy any LLM shit. And not make it the default.

Offloading the responsibility of not triggering synthetic text extruders when wanting to search the web is deeply cynical.

@ecosia is not a sustainable or green choice for a search engine and in their push for LLMs also destroying the meaning of search and the web itself.

Unless they change course maybe find a better search engine.

I am so tired of shitty software. The current list of complaints:

- the carshare app I use completely broke when I tried to cancel a current booking and make a new one because the car's side mirrors wouldn't rotate into position (clearly itself another software issue)
- the appointment I was trying to get to (and ended up missing) was difficult to book because the clinic's online booking form was completely broken
- when trying to make an order from a small business their address input form was completely broken
- after figuring out how to successfully pay the previous shop I was redirected to localhost:3000
- a different webshop kept prompting me to "confirm I'm not a robot" after entering my information, with absolutely no captcha on the page
- discord remains a terrible piece of software and regularly chokes when I try to play videos/scrolls far away whenever I try to open any media
- the fastmail app now often shows me a "something went wrong and we need to restart the app" screen, something I had never seen in the prior 10 years of me using their app
- if I slightly mistype on the android keyboard it will completely take me away from the current view to some settings pane, disrupting everything (this has happened twice while typing this)
- the text box I'm currently typing this in only shows me 4 lines of text at once

And all of this while talented software people are struggling to find jobs.
