The investment firm TPG has bought Optum UK - the company behind the electronic records used by most GPs, in a deal worth around £300m. This is our medical records, our mental health history, our prescriptions - the most private information there is. And now a US private equity firm, whose job is to squeeze out profit, holds the keys.
