    As a point of reference, society offers opt in when things are going well, it’s the carrot, the open door version of participation most Americans were raised with.

    But there is also, at a critical mass, a forced participation model, or an inability to opt out version. It’s often profited from by early adopters, salespeople, who say that “if you can’t beat em, join ‘em” and the pyramid scheme prompts uptake en masse.

    Idk when critical mass stick happens, but it’s what they’re aiming for.
