The government is planning to fund 80% of new NHS neighbourhood health centres through private finance - the same model that nearly broke the NHS the last time.

Private companies would build and own our NHS buildings, and we'd pay them back for decades. It's PFI by another name. NHS trusts are still paying off PFI hospitals from the 1990s - buildings that are now falling apart, that cost billions more than public borrowing would have. [3]

But together, we can stop this. We have a new Chancellor and Health Secretary, and a Prime Minister who won on a platform of public ownership. This could be our chance to stop this dead in its tracks. Thousands of us are deciding right now how to stop this before it's locked in:

We need to act fast. Regional NHS bodies have already submitted their proposals, NHS England ran approval panels over the summer, and formal talks with private companies are coming later this year.
Once contracts are signed, the NHS is locked in for decades.

Together we've already forced this into the open - our Freedom of Information requests made the Department of Health admit that 80% of the funding will come from "public-private partnerships". 

Andy Burnham says he's committed to public ownership. Now, if enough of us make ourselves impossible to ignore, we can hold him to it before a single deal is done.
