    That ideas section runs on "customer engagement," i.e., the people at Okta will never look at anything posted there until it gets enough upvotes for them to exceed the threshold they've defined for deserving their attention.
    Their customers are not coming to the ideas center to read about silly little browser extension improvements. Nobody's going to vote for my suggestions because nobody's going to see them. They're just going to stagnate there forever. (2/3)

    It's not the customers' job to prioritize usability improvements to Okta's products. It's the product management team's job.
    And usability improvements should be a separate work-stream, not jumbled together with new functionality.
    If you sell software, then take heed: when a customer comes to you with usability suggestions, those are not feature requests, they're BUG REPORTS, because bad usability is a BUG. Treat them as such. (3/3)

    @jik My experience of managing enterprise products, like Okta but not Okta in my case, is that usability improvements never get made.
    I think it's due to impact-based performance assessment. Product managers, and engineers, are all looking for big wins like launching new products.
