Advanced geothermal – energy from heat deep inside the earth, there is more work to do to get this to market, but this is a good renewable energy option
Natural gas – lots of this already & massive pollution involved
Small modular nuclear reactors — these are small nuclear facilities, but one concern is the feds are significantly loosening safety rules on these right now
Hydrogen - the gov has talked about a lot about this, it can be done dirty vs. clean, it is possible to use it responsibly for storage on wind/solar but I'll leave it to the experts to talk about how & the tradeoffs involved
Do we have to sell PNM to a giant private equity firm with a record of raising prices?
Does the State of NM have to take a majority ownership stake & have a say in operating arguably the most important public utility in our state?
It's not an immediate yes in either case, and the three options ⬆️ probably worth a good look by state legislators, community leaders, and policy makers
