would anybody else be interested in an application that works as a reverse proxy to https://cache.nixos.org and uses a local directory as a last level cache? there's already an application for it but it's full of slop
(this is only useful for Nix VMs that don't share /nix/store, or i guess you could use it in a network with multiple Nix machines)
Oct 14, 2026, 10:29 AM@whitequark depending on your jank level tolerance, you could run attic and have `attic watch-store --ignore-upstream-filter` running in the background, so it uploads everything that lands in your cache to the local store
Oct 14, 2026, 10:43 AM@whitequark FWIW I had a vaguely similar problem to solve recently for crates.io, and I ended up just using nginx with proxy_cache. As much as I usually prefer writing standalone services over cobbling together configs, for this particular case it seems to work fine.
