Good article from Scientific American about Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

The TL;DR version is that Jared Diamond's "Collapse” got it totally wrong, and his "Guns, Germs and Steel" might actually be a better model for what happened. Maybe he needs to write a new book called "Rats, Sheep and Europeans”, as those seem to be the usual suspects when it comes to the collapse of isolated ecosystems or societies.
