So, I left my very well paid job in SoCal tech to move back to Germany after 15 years in the US. I had a new job lined up, earning way above average for a single earner in Germany and still beating the median household income for Düsseldorf. In other words, in doing better than most and have no reason to complain.
In addition to my good income, me and my wife have significant assets in the US. Extracting them now/on short notice would cost us some net worth, but if we had to do it, we could.1/x
