A biologist's thoughts on potential for #AI dominance.
Think of the difference between music amplified or recorded on a sensative analogue device which reproduces the analogue sound waves on vinyl or similiar material or recorded digitly where the number of sequential files sound is split into determines quality of the reproduced harmonics. (Yes, you can use digital devices to play back vinyl. Example still holds and thats not the point.) Tonal nuance is key to how you hear the essence of the art.
Now consider the organic intertwined analogue nerve/endocrine system that is your brain. Your memory of sensory information is massively complex and your thought processes that combine and recombine the information using analogue chemical gradients driven by enthalpy and millions of redundant statistically likely biochemical reactions creating cascading gradients of sensations and combinations of information.
All the bits we could ever power with our simplistic electrical power stations couldn't map the ability to delve chaos and comprehend the significance of 'butterflies' that our brains are capable of.
It's digital system limitations, not the size of the power plants, that makes the idea of replacing bioevolution of intelligence with machines ridiculous. Western science worships simplification of causes and systems. Neat tool for beginning to learn how things work. But classic mechanics and digital reduction ignores the reality of existence in the real universe where chaos rules and life has evolved and successfully exists within it.
Machines won't destroy us, but these idiot facists with their nihilistic stupidity will. If we let them.
