Are you getting chummy with your new AI friend? Finally, you’ve found someone who understands?
Here’s why that’s not good.

Here’s why that’s not good.
The president of the United States fabricated a nonexistent cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine and announced it on his social media platform. The lie was immediately exposed: Russia attacked a power plant in Kharkiv and Ukraine said it was unaware of any cease-fire.
Shouldn't that be the lede?
Keeping poison out of the food supply used to be something everyone favored.

Here we go again.
If you fire a bullet at a practice dummy and the bullet hits a person instead, the bullet was not “acting on its own.”
When Anthropic's software—designed, programmed, prompted, and activated by humans working for Anthropic—does stuff the humans failed to predict, stop saying the software has "gone rogue.” The software does not have agency. Only the humans do.
What the United States has become.
If you read one thing about the AI-powered glasses (“pervert glasses”) coming from Meta and others, let it be this by @pluralistic. The tech oligarchy is creating for us “a world of continuous scrutiny, judgment and punishment” from which only they will be free.

Again: stop calling the malware “rogue.” These bots were designed, trained, prompted, and activated by humans at OpenAI. The fact that some of their behavior was unpredicted does not diminish OpenAI’s responsibility.
One identifier of a failed state: other nations conduct diplomacy through bribes to the ruling family.
Journalists have fallen in love with the expression "went rogue." It's not appropriate. OpenAI is recklessly releasing malware: software intentionally designed to gain unauthorized access to computer systems.
Show us the actual instructions and prompts.
The NY Times is matching a superb story from @propublica.org. This paragraph—strangely unattributed—is a lie: the investigation was shut down because Trump has ended all investigations into public corruption by Republicans and their donors.

Working parents snatched up when they pick up their children at school. Longtime residents caring for elderly parents. Law-abiding immigrants seized and transported with disregard for judicial orders. Ruined lives, imprisonment, and torture.
The US government is engaging in a campaign of malevolent, vicious, pointless cruelty on a scale unseen since the time of slavery. Carried out in darkness, in all our names.

True fact: there's no such thing as “chemtrails.” The word for the trails of vapor sometimes created by aircraft is "contrails," short for condensation trails. They're water. They’ve been understood for almost a century. There's no mystery about it, and no controversy, except for the controversy created by right-wing nutcases.
One of whom, to our shame, is the top health official of the US.
True fact: Until last year, the Kennedy Center was one of the world's most treasured and productive centers for the performing arts. More than a million people a year saw more than 2,000 performances of theater, opera, ballet, and music.
Now the Kennedy Center is dead. Its entrance is shrouded in tarpaulins that serve one purpose: to conceal the removal of Donald Trump’s name.

Someone should organize a class action lawsuit against Meta. It’s bad enough that they pollute their own platform with AI impersonators and AI slop. But now they spread confusion and sabotage artists by mislabeling actual art as AI.
Surely this is libelous.
Update: They've improved the headline:
