One of the annoying side effects of giving every webstore a different masked email is that they always share them with Australia Post (for delivery notifications), who always opts this (to them) brand new email address into their satisfaction surveys.

That must make me one of today’s lucky ten thousand.

Here’s a mashup of our nation’s two big cities’ railway stations joined by matching appellations. Is it awful? I’m not sure.

Hope I don’t kill her by making this poll. But #2 is on the list too so I’ve got my butt covered.
Without looking it up, guess what’s the given name of the world’s oldest living woman?
What I dislike about DST, especially at its extremities, is how it compresses my morning routine. The dog needs walking, people need feeding, and I've still got to get to the office by $time. Sunrise still isn't early enough yet for me to get these things comfortably done.
I don't consider the afternoon situation, where I've got more time to do afternoon chores in the daylight, sufficient compensation.
This morning my Apple Watch decided to eliminate all of the built-in watch complications and just show me blank screen area instead. There hasn’t been a recent software update—the watch is too old to receive them anyway—and rebooting everything hasn’t helped. My money is on a certificate expiring.
Definitely not replacing it with another Apple Watch. Torn over whether I’ll regret getting in bed with Pebble again. Perhaps I have aged out of smart watches entirely.
I think @daedalus and I found out why people upgrading from Mastodon 4.5.18 to 4.6.x are finding a massive number of sidekiq jobs.
There's a bug in sidekiq version 4.0.9. Scheduled jobs (and retry jobs) in the past aren't queued. You can see this in the sidekiq web interface, a ton of jobs in Scheduled which are set to run in the past.
Upgrade manually to 4.0.10 and they all get queued.
Also upgrade Mastodon to 4.6.x, which has a later sidekiq, the same.
Ping. @darius I think we know what the reported queue backlog is from.
To calculate the date of the second Monday in a month:
=DATE(Y,M,13)-WEEKDAY(DATE(Y,M,13))+2
Where the 13 and 2 come from is left as an exercise for the reader.
What happens if Anzac Day falls on an Easter public holiday? Is it subsumed into it or is a consolation holiday added at the end? I have to find this out for four jurisdictions now.
I am now voluntarily using Excel to do date arithmetic.
I am here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_of_Easter#Gauss's_Easter_algorithm
It's ludicrous to have a public holiday that's tied to a sporting event, but it's even more ludicrous for the timing of that sporting event to be only known about six months ahead.
I populate our payroll system's list of public holidays on the first day of the year, for the whole year, and now I have to make a special exception and manually add the AFL Parade Day some time in April when it gets announced.
I'd rather not think about AFL at all.

(To be technically fair, you can also do this if you’re on Mastodon and you don’t like polls.)
If you’re on Mastodon and you like polls, you can search “has:poll” and see every post in your federated timeline that contains a poll.
