"indie games?"
"no no indy games"
"oh like the sgi indy"
"no like jvm invokedynamic"

why is it called "vtuber programming livestream" and not "high-performance computing"

If you do something (like, running a 5k) do you feel the perception of having done the thing (like, feeling like you just ran a 5k)? Or do you only feel the physical effects (like seeing that you're in a different place than when you started, noticing breathing heavily, feeling dehydrated, etc.)?

... it's probably an entirely me thing, but it's just too soulless to me. i watched coworkers spend more money and run better wrappers. it did not feel better to me.

i was fortunate enough to have worked a few years doing something i sorta liked. i don't care enough about what is the future of software to grind down my soul to feed to the machine god's altar. maybe this is coming to an end.

i'm probably doing it wrong. call me a luddite (pej.) or something.

you're probably right.

at the request of my boss i've been trying this coding agent thing at work for two weeks.

i just gave it an extremely well-defined task, namely "reproduce this bug following the instructions". i thought it would be fine.

it was *horrible*. i watched llms blame u-boot, try to solve anubis, yell out "SMOKING GUN!" at its own wrong code... but that's not the issue.

i was *miserable*. at two weeks i was *visibly distressed*. everyone who saw me knew i had the worst day there.

everyone cares about the nine-tailed fox but nobody cares about the nine-foxed tail

python tip: you can slice ranges to make sliced ranges

"imagine eating a burger by typing into a terminal"

TIL you can dynamically highlight text in a <textarea>

https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/MSEdgeExplainers/blob/main/OpaqueRange/explainer.md

Unfortunately it only works on Chromium for now but both Gecko/Firefox and Webkit/Safari say they're planning to implement it.

https://easyriscv.dram.page now has current line highlighting on Chromium.

is "yote" the past tense of "yeet"

pro-tip: instead of foo/bar/baz use meow/woof/floof. it's just better.

your password must include an upper case letter, a lower case letter, a combining diacritic, a cjk unified ideograph, an emoji, four different whitespaces, three different scripts, and a partridge in a pear tree

"imagine if a week is called an 'eightday'
because each week contains seven days"

might as well ask, what does it mean when i explain to someone something and they ask me stuff like "do you have books you can recommend on this topic?" "where can i read more about this?"

(edit: clarified context)

Is JSON ambiguous if you replaced all inter-object-member and inter-array-element commas with a space (for token separation)?

I was thinking about JSON-with-trailing-commas and had an idea about the opposite syntax... Someone pointed out in private communication that the token separation is required or you would turn 1,2 into 12 but that ... seems to be it?

I don't know why this bothers me as much as it does but...

UEFI drivers *literally are* TSRs

Hi, this is a friendly reminder:

Put "higher is better" or "lower is better" next to you benchmark data or graphs.

Thank you so much.

the existence of emudev implies the existence of simudev

numbers over something like 2**(2**64) (or maybe "a few" powers of that) aren't real right?
