Boosts for reaching more people appreciated
    Fedi I need recommendations.
I am looking for an eink reader. Toggle-able backlight.
Colors would be a bonus but not a requirement.
    Must allow open source firmware.
Purpose: Reading books, mangas, comic books.

@raccoon Kobo Libra Colour does most of this: brightness can be configured (and set to 0%, but there is no toggle for that), it's color, there are alternative reader apps, but no fully free firmware that I know of.

I use it only for books.

Unlike some other vendors, Kobo publishes the source code they are legally obligated to.

@raccoon When I was looking at them a few months ago, this company looked promising, though I ended up going with a Kobo. The X4 model has a backlight. It's tiny, which may or may not be a feature, and there's a growing community making custom firmware.
