@ChrisMayLA6 I work on food and pharmaceutical safety systems. Part of my work is designing systems that ensure your food and medicines get to consumers like you and I in a safe manner frequently enough for insurers to underwrite policies relating to food and medicine factories, stockpiles, and shipments.

The climate crisis is having a serious impact on my work. The required safety margins for refrigeration and temperature control are becoming much harder to achieve due to frequent heatwaves and natural disasters like storms and floods which disrupt the electrical grid and telecommunications infrastructure.

I cannot stress enough how expensive it has already become to manage these risks. If we do not take action now, insurance prices will cause food to become unaffordable for most.
