SMRs are becoming less economically viable with every day and m² of solar panels installed. Frankly I tend to ignore the stories altogether since I just feel they will never see the light of day. Of course you can push forward and ignore the economics, but it will be another Kalkar soon and become eligible to turn the site into another amusement park.

Oct 14, 2026, 10:12 PM@Sustainable2050 $7 billion for 462 MW. That works out to more than $15,000/kW. I'm amazed that the project is still alive with that estimate. It will only get more expensive as it gets deeper into detailed engineering.
