Ha, so it seems one score has escaped my packing!

It's my study score of Mahler 2. I got to hear NZSO do it back somewhere 2017-2018ish iirc., and it was such an awesome experience. Just a stunning control of texture and space using a truly massive orchestra, all with such economical writing.

It was one of the reasons I chose to study composition as much as I did at uni, and for that reason it's the only orchestral study score I own. Even though I may be more of a Bruckner fan, Mahler 2 is one of the best symphonies ever written.

Smallish yellow book is held in front of the camera. The cover reads:

Edition Eulenburg
No. 1546

MAHLER
SYMPHONY No. 2
C minor/c-Moll/Ut mineur

Eulenburg

If you ever get the chance to hear it live: take it. Somewhere like NZ it's actually not an easy work to program due to needing that aforementioned massive orchestra with like double harps and offstage brass AND ALSO a full choir AND ALSO vocal soloists, to say nothing of it being the entire concert because the piece is like 2 and a bit hours.

But also, like so much music there are some amazing recordings online. I'm not going to post a link: find ones you like yourself. Youtube has professional recordings from conductors like Bernstein, Karajan, Boulez, Abbado, and Rattle just there. They're great.
