Why in the world did braille notetakers peak in the late 2000s and early 2010s? I personally think the Apex was the best BrailleNote HumanWare ever made. I know many argue it was the mPower, which is fair, I just hated the keyboard on that thing and didn't grow up with it. The apex though? I loved! That thing. And I think the BrailleSense U2 is the best BrailleSense HIMS has ever made, today's latest offerings included. The mPower was 2005, the APex was I think announced in 2009 and shipped in 2010, and the U2 came out in 2012. Wonder what it was about that time? Maybe just the perfect combination of an instant-on embedded OS, skilled software developers, and the influence of more actually blind people.
