Oct 13, 2026, 1:55 PMin all the coverage of the Microsoft GDID thing i have yet to see an explanation of why/how a particular website would have been sent (or requested) the GDID... anyone know? is it a browser thing?

Z̈oéuint8_t@chaos.socialOct 13, 2026, 2:11 PM@june as I understand this is sent to microsoft, and when the same gdid comes from a VPN endpoint then you can correlate it with other traffic suddenly also existing that vpn
Zackzenhob@butts.teamOct 13, 2026, 3:22 PM@june I think MS knows it because the client also hits ms servers directly via tracking etc. I doubt the actual website can get the GDID. At least that is how I read it
