Like, who are these Democrats releasing anti-trans ads attacking? Other Democrats? Because nobody thinks Republicans support us. This is just them throwing their hands in the air saying, "Don't hit me! Don't hit me! We all want to hurt these kids!"
@gwynnion NY-21: Upstate New York. About as bigoted as any southern district. NY's reputation for progressivism really does depend entirely on the five boroughs of NYC.
@gwynnion My theory as to why the Dem consultants are pushing this: They're targeting suburban white anxiety about not being able to afford college for their kids. Sports scholarships are important to a lot of those families, mostly in the non-revenue sports, and so they're pushing the idea that trans women are going to "steal" their kids' education.
@computerchronicles I feel like that's a retroactive justification and most of these people are just shitty human beings.
@gwynnion Oh, I completely agree. And it's obviously a BS argument. But in my experience, this is how "professional" political folks think and operate. They hallucinate imaginary issues they perceive as attracting their target voter and work backwards to justify it.
