in Toronto, all week until Sunday Aug 23, weather permitting, you can see a phenomenon known as TorontoHenge

the rising sun will shine along every street aligned on Toronto's east-west grid, a bit lower each day, until the 23rd, when it seems to rise out of the street

looking east along the Danforth from the middle of Broadview Avenue, August 22 2025... the rising sun is directly over the Danforth, right in your eyes if you happen to be going in that direction... in the foreground, streetcar tracks embedded in concrete, and a zebra-painted predestrian crossing

there are 4 Torontohenge events each year --

    Feb 15 (+) sunset
    Apr 19 (+) sunrise
    Aug 23 (–) sunrise
    Oct 25 (–) sunset

(+) good pics in days after
(–) good pics in days before

see ALT text for explanation of days leading up to Aug 23 event

diagram showing a street facing east, with three consecutive sunrise paths rising up diagonally from the horizon... in August, as the sun moves south towards the autumnal equinox, it rises a little further south each day, so for about a week before the event, it crosses over the street a little bit lower each day, until on the day of Torontohenge, it seems to rise out of the street itself
